Is there anything relatively specific that gives you hope for success in the pro-life movement, whether it be history, current people/strategies/results, the people you talk to at work, etc.?
I’m encouraged by the fact that it seems as though a great number of people have given the subject of abortion little or no thought. I am also encouraged by the success graphic photography has brought to social reform movements in the past.
What are you looking forward to learning and/or experiencing during your internship?
I’m looking forward to learning about CCBR’s strategy, both on the ground in terms of the most effective ways to present the pro-life message, as well as how CCBR plans to spread this message far and wide.
Where does your pro-life conviction come from?
I’m pro-life because I believe that mankind was created in the image of God, and God has commanded us to regard human life as fundamentally valuable.
When did you first come into contact with CCBR?
I have been aware of CCBR for several years, and this year I attended a training session on the recommendation of my dear sister Elyssa.
Who inspires you and why?
Robin Hood. For some reason.
What was/is one of your favorite subjects in school and how does that relate to either your current life or to pro-life work?
When I was young and foolish, history was my least favorite subject. Now I am slightly older and arguably less foolish, it is my favorite. I think history is important in the pro-life movement, because it reminds us that things have been crazier, and big changes are possible.
What’s one of your favourite Bible verses (or entire books)?
Psalm 16:2, Isaiah 55:12-13, The book of Job.
What is one of your favourite books?
The Man who was Thursday by Chesterton.
What are some areas of interest for you?
Naval history, woodworking, the Imperial measuring system, and the English language.
Do you wear a watch? Why or why not?
I often wear a watch because I yearn for the days when man kept his phone on his desk.
If you were a coloured animal, what would you be?
It would be nice to be Macaw of some description, but realistically I’m afraid I would be a lobster.
What’s your favourite food?
Chowder.
Keep up the good work in London
A few weeks ago Hamilton Against Abortion was doing a choice chain. A person started yelling about how he thought our posters would traumatize children. It was amazing to see this person so angry and then become calm from Andrew’s words. It’s not easy to keep your cool when someone is shouting at you for 15 minutes, but Andrew hung in there. The reward was well worth it; the person left much more pro-life and comfortable with our signs. He even ended up coming back later and apologizing to us.
Andrew is a testament that CCBR tactics work, and they work well! I hope to see more of him and emulate his techniques.
You rock Andrew!
